A Change of Plans

Our initial Holocaust survivor interviewee was unable to meet with us. In the midst of publishing his memoirs, his weeks were full of meetings with publishers and editors who were readying his stories for the book world. I was disappointed, and I know Mike and Krystal were as well. Not only was this our chance to meet and interview a Holocaust survivor whose stories held some of the world's worst horrors and tales of human resilience, but he was being published! I knew how important this must be to him, so I understood. But I couldn't help but selfishly mourning the interview we could've had with him. I thought Mike, Krystal, and I had missed out on the best part of this class.

Luckily for us, Dr. Levitsky and Dr. Clark found Natan Gipsman. We have yet to meet with him, but from what I gather, he is eager to share with us his stories and memories. Now that the reality of meeting him has sunken in, I feel many different emotions. Relief that we are able to meet him. Trepidation about the actual interview and the horrific stories we may hear. Hope that Mr. Gipsman will inspire me with his survival and his strength.

Because we had a change of plans, we're starting late. But hopefully, in the next week or so, we will meet Mr. Gipsman and share in his memories.
